Connected Venue Operator (CVO) is a single web interface for business users to all data and administration features of Location Analytics, Proximity Marketing, and Real-time Location Services (RTLS).


The portal is used for beacon deployment at venues, such as retail stores or shopping mall, and for creating and analyzing marketing campaigns.

I joined the company in 2014 when it was just a small team of 8 people with draft ideas and no software development. Now, Leantegra consists of over 40 people and develops software and hardware solutions for foot traffic engagement and analysis. 

 

My onsite role was to design and lead the company’s projects from scratch. The main project was the CVO portal, but I also managed other design projects.

First, I started digging into this new IoT market and its business issues, trying to find out how it all works and why.

Before IoT, venues like shopping malls had to use older methods to track visitors in order to understand them better. These methods weren't as sophisticated as IoT technologies, where everything is automated, optimized, and analyzed with custom notifications.

Besides the web portal, Leantegra also required a sandbox (playground) mobile app for potential customers, such as shopping malls, so they could first test the beacon devices on their own smartphones and see how it works.

In this app, any user can simulate proximity marketing scenarios to understand the differences between proximity zones, beacons, and notifications, and trigger proximity notifications in the same view as it should be for the store visitors.

The CVO portal was successfully designed, but not all features went into development right away since we had to launch our product as soon as possible to start gathering big data and improving our solution. Our first customers we got in retail. They installed our beacons and deployed the CVO portal solutions, such as location-based services and proximity marketing.
